A group composed of students from the ESMUC (Superior School of Music of Catalonia), a young septet winner of the Sona 9 (the most important musical contest in Catalonia) competition in 2006.
They mix oblique melodies initially inspired by Klezmer and folk music with varied rhythms that run from jazz to swing, trotting through to the Charleston and the French Chanson, constituting an original proposal that we could classify as a modern orchestra from the mid-20th Century. The tunes sung in Catalan, Spanish and French are all original compositions by the group characterized by upbeat love themes appropriate for dancing and celebrations.
Xazzar are: Angela Llinarés (clarinet), Ildefons Alonso (drums), Toni Vilaprinyó (bass), Clara Peya (piano, accordion), Noemí Rubio (violin), Miranda Gas (voice) and Laia Serra (violin).
