Yersterday night I went to see the catalan cover of this musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and play by James Lapine, acted by the theatre company Dagoll Dagom. In the first minutes, it’s many strange watch all the famous fairy tales taht way, but then, you are into the story and enjoy it. Finally, the message it’s great: not ever the happy ending it’s so happy at all.
Finally, in spite of the show it’s great, the title of best Dagoll Dagom’s show it’s the first that I see, the second time(the first was on 1988) of a musical version of Mar i Cel, by Angel Guimerà. Here you have a clip.
Sometimes the city of Barcelona surprised you with thinks like this. The last Thursday 20 th. at the afternoon I was walking along Pl. Catalunya and I see some peopleand ringing bells, an stage with ads from Barcelona World Race and an amazin structure (photo). I was late so I don’t pay a lot of attention but later, at 20 h. I go back and see what that was.
It’s an spectacle of free entrance in order to the Fiesta del Mar y del Cielo de Barcelona calledMaudits sonnants by Compagnie Transe Express. Drums, bells, fire and acrobatics with some kind of barroc style at 40 meters high. Nice coincidences that I was there in the right time, on the right place…
To celebrate the 25 anniversary as company of theatre of La Cubana, they were making a tour along the whole Spain that ends this days on the Coliseum theathre of Barcelona (Gran Vía, 595), with a remake of our spectacle Cómeme el Coco, Negro.
I don’t want to tell you more else because the better way to see a spectacle of La Cubana is not expect anything, just the unexpectable. Like I do. To finish, this is the end of another spectacle, Cegada de Amor (Blinded by love) that I see on TV, like all I had seen until Tuesday about the company. There is a song about the trues and lies on cinema and theatre. If you pay attention you can see actors and actress that now are more known: Jose Corbacho, Santi Millan (Buenafuente) or Ana Barrachina (Ventdelplá) who, like others actors, began their career on the company (The Spanish audio version).
It have no really sense that I recommend this play because everybody who is no from Barcelona, hasn’t the opportunity of see it. But it’s where i went yesterday and I want to reccomend it.
This play talks about Goya, a woman who creates her special world out of mens and crys whit her cousin. But some circumstances destroy this perfect world and makes she realize the pain is part of life and not a betrayal or illness and he must accept their existence and their feelings come as they come and mourn is not an illness.
The play is represent in Guasch Teatre (C/ Aragó, 140) and the entrance it’s from 15 to 20 €, discounted thanks to some entities.
